SERE SCHOOL SIMULATOR

Guerilla warfare, Rambo-type strategies.
Customized mod settings to increase realism.

#1 REQUIRED RULE: If you get shot once, you die immediately.
#2 REQUIRED RULE: Your player loadout MUST only be a knife when you start a mission, but you can arm yourself with the enemies' weapons.
#3 REQUIRED RULE: Enemies can detect you at least 300 yards away during day AND night.
#4 REQUIRED RULE: Turn off all on-screen indicators that show enemy positions and indicators that show their suspicion of your presence.
#5 REQUIRED RULE: You can't use your own night/thermal vision until you kill or knock unconscious an enemy soldier, OR you raid an enemy base and find "rare materials". (This simulates a real-life scenario of stealing night/thermal vision from the enemy.)
#6 REQUIRED RULE: Turn off "demon points" from affecting your reputation.
#7 REQUIRED RULE: ABSOLUTELY NO REFLEX MODE. However, you can enable auto-aim in the pause-menu settings for a John Wick-feel.
#8 REQUIRED RULE: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT use the parachute "fulton recovery" unless the game requires it. I shouldn't have to tell you how unrealistic that is. If you have to extract an enemy or friendly soldier, bring them to your extraction helicopter, AND THEN use it to pass the mission.
#9 REQUIRED RULE: No supply drops, no horse, no support helicopter.
#10 DON'T USE STUPID JOKE ITEMS
(--more requirements below--)

Main requirements:
- Gaming Windows PC computer
- Purchased copy of "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" on STEAM.
- Install "SnakeBite" mod manager with the "Infinite Heaven" mod

Obvious flaws to the simulation:

Unrealistic map in the game, the actual “metal gear solid” machines, limited modern capabilities (e.g. drones, inability to add more enemy soldiers, no way to add civilians or towns like “Grand Theft Auto” or “Assassin’s Creed”), supernatural enemies’ unrealistic abilities.

Key Lesson Learned:

The dynamics of combat can INSTANTLY and BADLY change from stealth into full-on kinetic combat firefights with enemy squads and their arsenals, including enemy tanks and helicopters.

MAIN SETTINGS TO TWEAK

(website still under construction)

This is a collection of recommended rules when programming the mod.
(Find mod website, mod files, and manual instructions at bottom of article. Watch videos at bottom of article for more info.)

Some basic settings can also be changed in the pause-menu settings.

Rules / Possible Settings

R = required rule

Ps. or P.S. = possible settings

READ THIS BOLDED PARAGRAPH BEFORE STARTING

*******Play the intro Hospital mission on the regular settings FIRST (the game automatically starts with regular settings.) This lets you get used to the basic controls. Obviously the supernatural soldiers are not realistic, but they only occur very briefly in the whole game. After the Intro Mission, play MISSION/EPISODE 1: “PHANTOM LIMBS” with regular settings as well to practice basic tactics before doing the SERE SCHOOL SIMULATOR. The first mission has to be completed on regular settings because of “The Skulls” in the first mission. The second time you encounter “The Skulls”, you can escape them using all the ultra-realistic mods in this article… combined with fast-paced weapons and martial arts reflexes.
.
******You don’t have to install the PS4 Controller map mod that this guy recommends. You can easily just plug in an Xbox One wired controller, boot the game, then the game will automatically be controlled with the Xbox controller, and all the button names will match the controller. (If the Xbox controller doesn’t work if you do it in that order, then you have to mess with Steam’s settings in “Big picture mode” controller settings. Very advanced settings to tweak, but once it works, it works for good.)
.
R-R-R.
.
R. Turn off ALL these settings: enemy outlines, white radar that tells you when the enemy is looking at you, when the enemy detects you (the famous “exclamation mark” over the enemy’s head), enemy real life markers, map markers of enemy locations. (Key lesson: interrogating enemy soldiers no longer gives the location of other enemy soldiers on your map. This simulates the entire enemy force speaking a different language than you.)

R. Set the Earth’s Day and Night time to be as long as possible without freezing the time completely. (Only on missions, can you fine-tune the daylight and exact time you want the simulation to run in.) If the mission takes place at night, turn down brightness on your computer’s display and play the game in a dark room.

R-R. MUST HAVE MGSV PURCHASED AND INSTALLED ON STEAM

R. ABSOLUTELY NO SLOW-MOTION REFLEX MODE

R. Change settings to force all enemy soldiers to wear helmets and plate carriers

R. YOU CAN NEVER use the parachute “Fulton recovery” device to extract enemy soldiers UNLESS it is required to do so by the mission. If so, you must carry the enemy body unconscious to your extraction helicopter at the mission’s end, and ONLY THEN can you use the Fulton recovery parachute.

R. Use an infinite money customized mod so that you can focus on pure gameplay. (The normal game forces you to pay in-game currency to even start a mission.)

R. Unlock all weapons, gear, and camouflage so that you can test out equipment and weapons to actually practice the game itself. Camouflage does play a part in this game (show video)

R. Try to imagine if the game was designed like the game Arma 3, where players have to consider the weight of each individual peace of gear, and how it affects your running speed, overall sprinting stamina, and other factors (thirst, accidents that result in broken bones,

R. Enemy day and night sight distance is AT LEAST 300 yards

R. Only able to use weapons you pick up off of dead or unconscious enemy soldiers.

R. Slightly increase how much noise your footsteps make.

R. You can ONLY use night/thermal vision after killing or knocking out an enemy soldier, OR raiding the base’s “rare quality” supplies. (This is to simulate you being able to use the enemy’s night/thermal vision if you were to obtain it in realistic ways).

R. Don’t use the horse at all. NEVER call in for friendly helicopter support.

R. (Hard to tweak setting) Once you are spotted, the enemy does not stop being on alert until the end of the mission. The enemy will radio HQ if you are spotted and in the area. HQ that you are in the area.)

R. ****very important**** Allow dead enemy soldiers to drop tactical items. (In the mod, change the setting so that “random chance it will happen = 100% of the time”). Obviously if the enemy drops a stupid joke item, don’t use it. This game was programmed by people with a sense of humor, so you have to deal with it LOL.

.
P.S. (Possible Settings)
(Possible setting: Enemy AI hunts you down after spotted. Simulates the enemy tracking your footprints and other tracking markers. WARNING, multiple soldiers and even tanks follow your trail. This is a hard setting to figure out.)

(Possible setting: Enemy helicopter patrols. This is a hard setting to figure out.)

(Possible setting: Enemy reinforcements.)

Ps. No checkpoints.

Ps. Don’t kill any enemies unless you have to.

Ps. Use mods to customize how many friendly soldiers you have on your home base. Sort them into the intelligence department. A better intel team actually can give you mission intel before you start, affecting how you personally approach your missions, but obviously you don’t need to do this. This setting is optional, but sometimes is required.

Ps. Allow auto-aim in regular game settings to have a more “John Wick feel”

Ps. Using the Snake’s metal arm accessory allows you to non-lethally, but temporarily knock out enemy soldiers, if you sprint and punch them.

Metal Gear Solid 5 – Infinite Heaven Mod (works with SnakeBite Mod Manager)

Infinite Heaven mod manual instructions (MUST READ)

While you are inside the helicopter traveling between missions, you can access the most advanced settings in the game.

Required Rule: start with only a knife. (To do this, follow the directions below by using menu #13: Mission-prep features menu). This setting can be tricky.
